KIMEN

Kisumu Meta Meta Network (KIMEN) is a collaboration of the ministry of health, the police Department, NGOs and CBOs. KIMEN targets vulnerable women within Kisumu District.

KIMEN was initiated in September 2006 due to a felt need to provide a more comprehensive response to the needs of vulnerable women. The network was officially launched at the International Women’s day on the 8th March 2007.

KIMEN defines vulnerable women as women and girls at higher risk of experiencing health problems, exploitation, stigma and discrimination, violence and poverty. They include orphans, street children, pregnant teenagers an married adolescents, widows, women heading households, sex workers, and women living with HIV.

OVERALL GOAL

To improve the physical, emotional and socio-economic well being of vulnerable women in Kisumu district.
